hi-low circle skirts version 2.0

One of my daughter's best friends came to visit us here in Idaho this weekend. She has decided (with all the passion a six year old can muster) that she is going to be a fashion designer when she grows up. She's been practicing her designs, and was really excited for me to make some of her designs reality. I love it! She's a talented little girl, and has some pretty good taste for a six year old to boot.

One of the things she really wanted was a twirly skirt! Her mom, my good friend, bought the fabric for both girl's skirts in exchange for my sewing skillz. I used my girl's hi-low circle skirt tutorial to make some cute spring skirts!

The girl's chose the fabric, and loved the results!

They pretended to be ballerinas! (we just watched Barbie and the Pink Shoes)

Look at that twirling! So much fun!

The only thing I did differently was to add length. The girls wanted longer skirts "that were all the way to the floor." Other then that, I did it exactly the same way! I love being able to teach the next generation that sewing can make for some fun and unique clothing.

  1. Really cute! I read the tutorial and you make it look sooooooo easy. Just wish I was ... oh ... about 3 decades younger and I'd make one for myself. Maybe I'll do this for my 18-year old daughter.

    1. I'm 29 and I would absolutely love this skirt! I imagine an 18 year old would like it, but then I may just be pretending that I'm still young enough to know what 18 year olds might like, lol.

    2. I'm 31 and have on my list this summer to make myself and my daughter several of these skirts. I bought one and wear it all the time. That is why I want to make so many.

  6. You sewed very good skirts. The girl's desire to become a designer is meritoriously. I read an interesting article "10 Highly Successful People and Their Not so Prestigious First Jobs" may it would be interesting for you too.
