12 Mother's Day gift ideas

Guess what? Mother's day is just around the corner (May 12th people)! Now pretty much all of us can safely say we either have a mother, are a mother, or know a mother, so it's time to do something special to show her (or yourself) how much you care! The two of us here at Domestic Bliss Squared have done a quick round up of some of our favorite projects that can easily be used to make the mothers in your life feel extra special. Just click on the pictures below for the links!

We've broken this down into three main categories. You could...

Cook her a treat:

This decadent strawberry chocolate mousse is perfect for a mother's day dessert, and it's low(er) calorie:

These gluten free brownie bites are a delicious treat for a mother who can't eat wheat but still loves a gooey carb-tastic treat:

This gorgeous trifle is perfect for brunch or dinner, and bonus...it can be made with gluten free cake mix! Imagine her face when she realizes that it's gluten free and she can actually eat it:

Or bring her breakfast in bed:

This homemade vanilla-raspberry coffee syrup would be so cute packaged in a little bottle and served with her Mother's Day coffee:

A toasted almond and blueberry oatmeal bake is the perfect treat to make ahead the night before, and easy to bring to a brunch:

Or if your mother is more of a lemon person, this lemon poppyseed oatmeal bake will be sure to wake her up on Mother's Day morning:

And don't forget a gift!

A "miss pink" necklace in any color would be sure to make her smile:

Super simple feather earrings would look perfect on her all summer:

An easy summer scarf refashion would be a kid-friendly craft:

A crocheted loopy flower in a bright, fun color would make an adorable hair clip or pin:

And a crocheted lacey circle scarf would make a gorgeous gift to go with your loopy flower:

If you're really feeling brave, you could sew a maxi skirt...easier then it looks, even a beginning sewer can do it! And she's sure to appreciate a piece of trendy, handmade clothing:

There you go! Hopefully all you mothers and all the mothers you know have an amazing Mother's Day! Lord knows that being a mother is one of the hardest jobs in the world, and every mother should feel like a queen on this special day.

Love,
Hilary and Jessica
(both proud Moms!)

  5. Regarding gifts for Mother's Day, I'd like to make you aware of something totally unique and special: A photo calendar on your mom's smartphone, featuring personal family photos - or whatever photos you like to be included in that calendar. How cool is that?

To get more background info about the App, please check out the details - including screenshots - in the Play Store:

Especially, watch the 5 minute video review to understand, how the calendar works.

    * Widget that displays a monthly calendar along with a photo
    * Clean and elegant designed calendar widget
    * Weekends and current day is highlighted
    * Tapping the photo displays it full screen
    * Tapping the calendar brings you to your calendar app
    * Widget can either be used on the homescreen or also the lockscreen
    * Creating the calendar is as easy as selecting 12 photos
    * Calendars can be shared with a 8-digit randomized code
    * Photos can be from your gallery, instagram, picasa, G+, dropbox, ...
    * Works perfectly for Tablets and Phones
    * Works also on older Smartphones, requires Android 2.2 or higher
