sewing for me: maxi skirt

maxi skirt

I do a lot of sewing for my kids. It's HARD to sew for myself! First of all, I am super picky about how I like my clothes to fit. I like them to be comfortable but also modest, but also fitted. And washable. And...you get the idea. So when sewing projects for myself don't turn out exactly how I want them to I get really frustrated! And worse, I never wear them. It's a gross waste of fabric.

This sewing project, however, it one that turned out exactly how I wanted it to, and is one of the comfiest, most flattering and versatile pieces of clothing in my closet! It seriously feels like I'm wearing my most slouchy jammies.

I just absolutely love it!

I used this amazing tutorial from one of the best sewing blogs out there: Elle Apparel. Her tutorial does a better job of explaining how to make one then I ever could, and the pics of her pregnant cuteness are absolutely stunning.

I have been looking for a coral jersey like that for a long time, now that I've gotten a black skirt that makes me so happy! Seriously though, check out her tute, it's amazing.

  1. I am too short for long skirts, they just make me look even smaller than I actually am

  6. I'm almost six feet tall and i think this skirt surely drops to the break in my foot regardless of the shoe that I wear. :-) Also the color is a true dark black. The fabric looks perfect. It has enough weight to drape just right. I love it.

    1. Thank you! I've been trying and trying to find fabric like it again, I found this at the thrift store so I don't know what the fiber content is for this fabric! It's just gorgeous though.
