Thrift store finds: The stuff I didn't buy!

Today I'm going to show you some of the amazing finds from my thrifting adventures that I had to pass up on.  Because I shop at Thrift stores all the time and everything is so dang cheap, I tend to collect clothes. If I'm not careful, my closet can start to look like this:

Don't judge! I'm in the middle of doing laundry and clearing out things for our garage sale, I promise. But needless to say, I've had to get very good at letting some amazing steals go, because HELLO! I don't have any room left. So without further ado, here are some awesome steals from the past month that I've had to say "no" to. Without further ado,  #1 is Coach shoes!

Coach tennis shoes...no lie. These were priced at $9.99, and they retail for about $130. But alas, they were a size 7 1/2 and I wear a size 9, so there they stayed! Although I will be honest and say I walked by and stroked them at least another three times.

I believe this dress was BCBG, for $9.99. Gorgeous, very "me" with minimal lines and it's grey (don't get me started on my love of grey!) but it was a size too small. And don't ask what size that is, because darling, a Lady never tells!

thrift store finds

This Calvin Klein dress retails for over $100, and was only $5.99. I loved this dress, I would wear this dress, and the construction on this dress was impeccable, but it was a size too large. And it had a side zipper, which is sadly one of the kinds of tailoring that is almost impossible for me to take in.

thrift store finds

These Cole Haan boots were only $7.99 (!!!) and retail for over $200. They were in immaculate condition, the leather on the bottom hadn't even been scuffed and the tops were still buttery soft with no marks at all. But they were a size 7!

thrift store finds

This Anthropologie dress was absolutely adorable and only $3.99 (similar retail for about $100-$150), but it was super short and fit me strangely in the arms so I passed it up.

thrift store finds

This is the Anthropologie Long Look Coat Dress for only $9.99, which retailed for over $300. This dress was so fun and cute, but it wouldn't really lend itself well to my stay-at-home mom lifestyle. If I had a 9-5 job this would have been mine!

thrift store finds

This 100% silk Banana Republic dress was only $9.99 and probably retailed for around $140! But once again, as a stay-at-home mom I only need so many "nice" dresses for going out, and believe me I already have too many, so I passed it up. And also, this style is NOT flattering on me.

thrift store finds

This brown suede leather Franco Sarto hobo bag was calling my name somethin' fierce! It was only $4.99 and half off of that for only  $2.50! Not bad for a leather purse that originally cost about $100! But I was carrying a purse almost identical to it so I couldn't justify the purchase.

thrift store finds

This white Juicy Couture top was really cute and retailed for around $100. But as I said about the Banana Republic Dress, this babydoll style makes me look pregnant. And after having two kids that is just not an option, even if it was only $7.99! Also, if you look closely in this pic you can see my daughter "helping" me shop in the lower right hand corner. She's my little thrifting buddy! She already loves to go find treasures, I'm so proud.

There you have my sad rejects. Those Coach tennis shoes are still making me want to cry! I wish I knew someone who has a 7 1/2 foot...

  1. Great finds! I'm a size 7 1/2 so I would so love to run into those shoes at my local thrift store! What a steal! Thanks so much for sharing! Found you via the Inspiration Board at Carolyn's Homework!

  2. Good job passing up those deals! I say good job only because if you spend even a little bit on something you won't really use...it's not really saving money. Like you, it's a lesson I had to learn from overflowing closets. The only thing worse than passing up great deals like that is seeing them in your closet untouched. But dang...that bag has me crying!!

Ps I have about 4 of those Calvin Klein sheath dresses...I love the way they fit. They go with everything!

    1. Jealous! I loved that dress you have no idea! It was so gorgeous and simple, but after looking at it for a long time I couldn't justify it because I wouldn't have known how to take it in and maintain the perfect shape. Sad!

  3. Wow, your thrift store has some nice stuff! I'll be honest, though, I'm not sure you were missing anything on the Coach shoes. I got a pair at a garage sale once for $10 and it was the worst $10 I have ever spent. They were absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to love them so much, but they were probably the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned! I tried to wear them, but the back of my feet would literally bleed because they rubbed so much. Ouch.

    1. I know! Me too! Any time I come across six pairs of gorgeous size 7 1/2 shoes all at once I'm mentally cursing the woman who donated them for not having bigger feet, lol!

  8. Ahh refreshing post! Thanks for sharing! I'm glad to hear about the stuff a fellow thrifter restrained themselves from getting "just because...". Gives me courage to follow suit!

    1. I would like to pretend that I actually pass up stuff like this all the time, but...the truth is I have a really hard time saying "no" to designer goods at $3-9 a pop. Hence the state of my closet in the pic above. I need to start an ebay store or something to fund my craziness!

  10. What a bunch of great bargains! My thrift stores rarely have good finds and you need to go often and early to find them.

  11. I love thrift store finds. Normally, I'm looking for jeans when I go to the thrift store. (That's my latest need to finds at the moment.) I remade a black dress that I found at the thrift store for $3.98 for a post on my blog. So, I definitely love the thrifty things.

    1. Sharon, I will have to check out that post! I love refashioning clothes, it's a serious hobby for me and I'm guilty of shopping just for potential refashions sometimes!
