The Vacuum Challenge

This post brought to you by BISSELL Homecare, Inc.. All opinions are 100% mine.

Jessica: OMG you guys, my vacuum broke. *hyperventilating*

This is a Big Deal, considering that most of the week I have four children under the age of five eating lunch over my floors. By 12:15pm every day my floors look like this:

By dinner time, you can hardly tell the difference between carpet and hardwood. You can probably then imagine what going several days with no vacuum would look like! One can only sweep the carpet so many times before the cheese and rice get ground in. Like this:

Eeewwww! So when the awesome people at BISSELL offered to let me try out and review a vacuum, of course I jumped at the chance! Not just because I was freaking desperate (which I was) but also because their vacuum actually looks really cool. They call it "the vacuum for every room in the house," a slogan which I will be testing out thoroughly, and letting you all know how it goes.

I'm not only going to test their "every room in the house" slogan on my living and dining room floors, which are combo of carpeted rugs and hardwood, but I'm also going to be testing their claims out on one of the most overlooked "rooms" in my house. The back seat of my car.

Dum dum duuuuuuuuum:

Don't judge me, you know your car has looked like that at one time as well. This is the aftermath of our road trip back to our hometown for a friend's wedding. That is only three weeks of crackers and paper scraps. And what I think is a hair tie and some (half eaten?) crayons. Only three weeks! I'm going to test BISSELL's claims on this mother of all messes, including the Dude's carseat:

I'll let you know how it goes!

Hilary:  When we first heard about the chance to work with BISSELL, I was stoked!  Whenever people ask me what the best kid supply purchase I made was, they are surprised to hear that it wasn't a swing, a Diaper Genie or a certain type of bottle.  It was my BISSELL Powersteamer!  I bought it five years ago and it is awesome.  Gross-looking carpet stresses me out and my Powersteamer keeps my floors looking nice, in spite of two kids and three pets.  I've been really happy with the longevity and price of my steam cleaner, and after such a positive experience, I was excited to get to play with one of BISSELL's vacuum cleaners!  Especially since I recently purchased a different brand vacuum (which will remain nameless) that I'm totally unimpressed with.

One thing I do a lot of is home improvement projects.  I've done everything from redoing bathroom flooring to building an extension on my house.  However, I've also done a lot of other little projects (like hanging curtain rods, painting and hanging wall art).  One common theme?  All of these things are MESSY!  Even something simple like hanging a curtain rod can leaves this all over your carpet:

One tutorial I've been working on is how to hang a photo cluster quickly and effectively.  I already did one on one living room wall:

And get a lot of compliments on it.  We recently moved our furniture and installed a window in our living room (which meant pulling a lot of pictures down to make room for the window), so I've been staring at this in the morning:

The asymmetry of that wall gives me the shudders.  I've been itching to create another picture cluster above the couch, but I'm sure you can imagine what a mess hanging multiple pictures makes!  I'm really excited to see how the BISSELL vacuum sucks up the drywall and more importantly, test the long-stretch hose and see if it can clean up the drywall from behind (and on!) the couch without leaving a bigger mess!  My living room also only have one easily accessible outlet and it is on the opposite end of the room from our couch, so I'm excited to see if the 27-foot cord is long enough (my current vacuum's is not!) to reach the mess I'll be making!

We will be cleaning/hanging/using our BISSELL vacuum (we share custody of it!) over the next few weeks and can't wait to see how it works!  We will show you the results and I (Hilary) will share a super easy tutorial for creating and hanging a photo cluster.

In the meantime, check out these easy cleaning tips and check out BISSELL's awesome sweepstakes through their Facebook page.  You can share your own messy house pictures and enter to win a new vacuum.  Plus if you enter the discount code POWERGLIDE at www.bissell.com, you can get $20 off plus free shipping on either the PowerGlide Pet Vacuum with Lift-Off Technology (2763), the PowerGlide Pet Bagged Rewind Vacuum (38631) or the PowerGlide Pet Vacuum (1044).  Hooray for discounts!

  6. To genuinely pull up the dust and hair on your floor,it is normally better to vacuum multiple times in the same range. On top of this,it would likewise be wise to go over the regions from multiple directions,as this will pull up dirt and debris more effectively.
