crock pot applesauce

crock pot applesauce

I (Jessica) can only take credit for the pictures of this amazing applesauce. This is all my husband's cooking skillz! He is a very talented cook in his own right, the kind of cook who can randomly throw stuff together into a pot and it turns out amazing. Every. Time. (I hate those cooks!) He is the brains behind this delicious applesauce recipe you see before you. He called it "caramelized applesauce" because the long slow crock pot cook time makes the apples and sugar combine to form a spicy-sweet caramel-y flavor.

Who knew making something like applesauce could be so simple? And so delicious. Our family ate it for dessert and all of us wanted seconds.

This really is the easiest recipe ever, there are only three ingredients!

Ingredients:
10-12 apples
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon

1. Peel, core and cut up your apples.
2. Combine your apples, sugar and cinnamon in the crock pot.

3. Cook for 8-10 hours on low.
4. When you're done, use a potato masher to turn the apples into applesauce. A potato masher will make for a delicious and chunky applesauce. If you like a smoother texture, you can put your cooked apples into a blender or food processor and puree them.

I suggest you try your home made applesauce the way I like it best; warmed up with a dollop of creamy Greek yogurt on top, sprinkled with extra cinnamon and topped with walnuts! I'm getting hungry just looking at this picture...

  1. I may just try this sans the cinnamon (I'm allergic.) It looks really yummy, though! My husband is one of those kinds of cooks too. I don't understand it, but I love it about him!

    1. I know! He laughed when he read this post because he knows how much this annoys me. Being the one who does most of the cooking, you think that I'd be the one with the skillz, but not so. However, I do enjoy eating his cooking, so I guess fair's fair!
