We've known each other for over ten years, since Hilary started dating Jessica's husband's younger brother. But it wasn't until the birth of our daughters (9 weeks apart!), that we started talking every day.
Gradually our discussions moved from parenting issues to other passions we have and we discovered we both love DIY, sewing, Little House on the Prairie, cooking healthy foods, exercise and coffee! We both learned how to crochet at the same time, we've fallen in love with jewelry making together and we swap recipes constantly!
Our family's are even so close that In January of 2013 a dream came true for us. Jessica's family relocated to Boise, ID, where Hilary was living with her family! Now we live a mile apart after years of long distance friendship! You can read all about our announcement of the move, as well as a super detailed history of our friendship, in this post.
I'm the one you'll usually see doing style and sewing posts here, with some cooking, jewelry making, crochet and general crafting thrown in for good measure. I'm sort of a "jack of all trades" crafter/diy-er.
I'm also the main social media person here at Domestic Bliss Squared! I post across all our social media, comment on other blogs, Tweet and Pin and return emails. Basically this translates into spending way too much time on Facebook while drinking coffee and calling it "work."
Some of my favorite things:
Food: Sushi. Color: green. TV show: Red Dwarf. Doctor Who and Star Trek come in close seconds. Drink: Coffee. Guilty pleasure: fashion magazines. Can't live without my: coffee!
I have a master's degree in Social Work, and I'm a proud working mom of two beautiful kids. They're the same ages and genders as Jessica's kids, how cool is that? I'm also married to Jessica's husband's little brother!
Some of my favorites:
Food: sushi. Color: Anything bright! And preferably worn together. TV show: Sex in the City. (Non crafting) Hobby: Running. Drink: Coffee. Guilty pleasure: Smartphone games. Can't live without my: budget planning math journal.
This blog has become a place where we share what we've learned (the good, the bad and the really ugly) along with tons of tutorials, recipes and pictures. It's yet another thing we have in common!
We love homemaking and saving money and are always striving towards Domestic Bliss (cheaply, of course!).
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Or do you just have an awesome recipe or tutorial you want to share with us? Contact us at domesticblisssquared @ gmail.com (take out the space...)!
We'd love to hear from you!
